MY THEORETICAL APPROACH

I am influenced by Psychodynamic theories of human behavior.
My work includes helping people understand how family history and past experiences influence current relationships and reactions. I see psychotherapy as a supportive process that offers understanding, guidance, resources and hope as people seek to improve the quality of their lives.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California

I am a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work (010187)

I obtained my Masters in Social Welfare (MSW) from UCLA

I completed a two-year post-graduate program in psychoanalytic    

                psychotherapy at the Wright Institute Los Angeles

I began my psychotherapy practice in Los Angeles in 1979

In addition to my psychotherapy practice I have done the following:

  • Completed training in Divorce Mediation and

                Critical Incidence Stress Debriefing

  • Spent 18 years as an Oral Commissioner for the

                California Board of Behavioral Sciences

  • Taught classes in Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment

                to mental health professionals

  • Taught classes in family dynamics, introduction to counseling,  and theories of aging                 for Chapman College, Orange, CA  

  • Taught stress management & crisis intervention to

                Los Angeles County Probation Officers

  • Provided field work instruction to students at

               University of Southern California (USC),
               California State University, Long Beach (CSULB)
               California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA)

  • Provided clinical supervision and training to psychology, social work and marriage & family interns at
